Arnold Welcome to 8th Grade and to the Falcons Team. I will be teaching and learning with you as we talk about Civics and Economics. As we get started, in these first few days we will be reviewing the code of behavior and getting to know each other, before we get too far into Civics. Please find my syllabus attached to this message-I am trying this year to be much more environmentally friendly...we will see how long it will last!

With all of us in a completely new environment, please be patient, as we all navigate through these uncharted waters together.  I know, I put it at the end of all of my mesages home, but please take me up on it, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me, arnoldmr@

I am checking my email multiple times per day, and my goal is to respond immediately.  A lot of students were asking as we left about work they needed to make up.  I placed a document on my website, with directions to get access to the textbook and ALL of the questions that have been assigned for this quarter. (You really don't need the book to answer them, if you were paying attention in class).  As far as tests, they can also be retaken, but you will need to email me to get the code.

On the left-hand side of my webpage, you will see multiple tabs, below I will give a brief description of each of the pages:

SOL ResourcesI have pasted the Virginia Department of Education Standards for Civics and Economics.  I also posted the Prince William County pacing guide...we were at Standard 12 when we left (we were a few weeks behind our schedule)

Files/DocumentsAny files that I have (and have to find...I'm not always the most organized) will be posted here.

Learning LinksI have posted multiple review games.  I also posted CNN 10, which we use in school to keep up with current events.  As I come across others, I will add to my list, to most likely include, Study Island and iCivics!

Technology SupportNothing yet, but I will get something there!

Assignments
Anything that I have added, that was due before we left, I have posted them here, and included the documents to the Files/Documents page.

Calendar I have left that the way, I had originally planned, and told all of you.  I planned to finish all new material by Spring Break, but we are in new territory, that we have never been before.

Here is the Virtual Schedule for Woodbridge Middle...Thursday is the Social Studies day, so I will be posting an assignment (optional) for the students.  I will also be available for office hours between 10:30AM - 12:00PM on Thursdays and by email everyday of the week.

All assignments (challenges) will be through Teams, since the students are already used to using Teams during the school year.  During office hours, I will be available for email, chat, or video chat-if enough students wanted to video chat at one time, we could even set up a virtual class meeting!

If you have any questions or concerns please continue to reach out!
